Mini Metro is a minimalist puzzle game that simulates the challenge of running an underground system in a bustling metropolis. Developed by Dinosaur Polo Club, the game was first released in 2015 and has since gained a large following for its engaging gameplay and simple yet elegant design.
The goal of Mini Metro is to create an efficient and reliable metro network that can transport commuters around the city without causing any delays or overcrowding. Players must strategically connect different stations to the underground lines, assign trains to each line and manage passenger flow as demand grows.
The game starts with a basic map of the city, consisting of a few stations and a limited number of metro lines. As the game progresses, new stations and lines are added and the number of passengers increases. This creates a challenge for the player as they must constantly adapt the metro network to meet the growing demand.
Mini Metro has a sleek and minimalist design with a clean and easy to navigate interface. The game has simple geometric shapes and bold colours, making it visually appealing and easy on the eye. The music and sound effects are also minimalistic, with soft, soothing tones adding to the overall atmosphere of the game.
One of Mini Metro's unique features is its procedurally generated maps. Each game session creates a new map with the different cities, stations and obstacles that the player must tackle. This adds to the replayability of the game as players can continue to challenge themselves with new maps and layouts.
Another key feature of Mini Metro is its realistic simulation of the underground system. The game takes into account factors such as passenger demand, station capacity, train speed and track capacity. This means that players must carefully balance their metro network to ensure that trains run efficiently and passengers arrive at their destinations on time.

How To Play

Mini Metro is a strategy game in which you can design and manage an underground system in a growing city. The goal is to keep the transport network running smoothly, connecting the different stations and transporting passengers to their destinations as efficiently as possible.
Here are the basic steps to get started with Mini Metro.
Selecting a city: At the start of the game, you can choose the city you want to play in. Each city has a unique layout and presents different challenges. For example, some cities have rivers that create obstacles, while others have many stations clustered together.
Connecting stations: Once you have chosen a city, you will need to start building your metro system. You start with a few stations and a limited number of trains. Your goal is to connect the stations with coloured lines representing the different train routes. To create a line, click and drag from one station to another. You can have multiple lines connecting the same station, but each line can only have one colour.
Adding trains: As you add more stations to the network, you will need to add more trains to meet demand. Trains will run automatically along the route you create and pick up passengers as they travel. You can add more trains by clicking on a station and selecting the train icon.
Managing resources: As you progress through the game, you will gain resources such as tunnels, bridges and additional trains. You can use these resources to expand your network and increase your efficiency. However, resources are limited, so you need to manage them carefully.
Dealing with emergencies: Occasionally, unexpected events occur, such as overcrowding at stations or line disruptions. You need to respond quickly to these emergencies to prevent them from spreading and causing disruption in your network.
Reaching milestones: As you transport more passengers, you'll reach milestones that unlock new features and options. For example, you may unlock a new train type or a new resource that can help you overcome a specific challenge.
Win the race: The goal of the Mini Metro is to carry as many passengers as possible without overcrowding your network. If any station becomes too crowded, it will cause delays and lower your score. The game ends when you reach a certain number of weeks and your final score depends on the number of passengers you transport and how efficiently you manage your network.
